Summary

RotoQL is my clear choice for the best lineup optimizer. One issue you may come across when using the optimizer is that it can take a bit of time to learn how to use. It's debatable whether or not I should have even listed this as a down side to RotQl, as the only reason it can be difficult to use is because it's packed with so many cool features.

Launched by #1 DFS Player Saahil Sud

RotoQL was launched in late 2015 by number one ranked daily fantasy player, Saahil Sud. Sud, who was formerly known my his DFS screen name “Maxdalury”, has been atop the DFS leaderboards for years. In a 2015 interview by the Boston Globe, Sud announced he had made $3.5 Million from daily fantasy sports in just that year alone.

Saahil Sud launched RotoQL to give all DFS players a chance to compete with the professionals. Prior to the introduction of products like these, many people argued pros had an unfair advantage. The gap between these pros and the average DFS player has largely been closed thanks to advanced lineup optimizers and tools like RotoQL. Anyone now has access to a platform with endless research tools and software to create huge numbers of lineups.

RotoQL User Success

When selecting lineup optimizers for my list, I felt the need to not just choose products I’ve found effective myself, but to choose products with a proven track record for helping many players win.

While using RotoQL does not guarantee you will become a successful daily fantasy player, there have been many DFS players who’ve used it to win on DraftKings and FanDuel. As of writing this, users have already combined to win over $5.5 million. You can see testimonials from their users on their site.

RotoQL Features

RotoQL is in my opinion the most advanced daily fantasy tool on the market. I’ll do my best to detail all of its features, but you may want to also create a free account to test it out. Keep in mind with a free version of the software, you won’t have access to all of its features.

Walk Through

The RotoQL suite is well organized into 8 sections for all of the sports and sites it supports. Each of these sections has a dedicated tab so that you quickly get the information you’re looking for. The sections are as followed:

  • Optimizer – The main page for creating lineups.
  • Insights – Selected player targets based off custom algorithms.
  • Games – Quickly view all the games for your slate and their Vegas lines, weather data, lineups/batting orders, and more.
  • Players – See advanced player statistics and fantasy statistics to research players.
  • Projections – View integrated projections from top industry sources or edit player projections yourself.
  • Locked – Shows players you’ve chosen to lock into your lineups.
  • Excluded – Shows players you’ve chosen to exclude from your lineups.
  • Saved Lineups – Quickly see all lineups you’ve saved from lineups you’ve generated on the optimizer tab.

Optimizer

Perhaps the most important section to some, the Optimizer is where you generate lineups on RotoQL. You can quickly create up to 500 lineups here and select lineups to save.

Insights

The insights tab is one of the best features of the product. Here you’ll find selected players who look to be good plays based off RotoQL’s algorithms. This can be useful for finding hidden value targets.

Three types of “insights” show potential good player based off Vegas line, “Hot” players, and bargain rating.

You can also see player volatility and basic player information on this tab.

Games

The games tab will give you all the information you need to know for each game on the DFS slate you plan to play. Quickly see team starting lineups/batting order, Vegas Lines, and Weather all organized on one page.

Once again, this page also gives information on player volatility, floor and ceiling, and matchup.

Players

This is the tab I use the most for research. Here you’re able to see detailed statistics, player salaries, and more for every player on your slate. You can filter players by position to focus more closely on one part of your lineup.

The amount of information packed into this tab is incredible.

For example, in the NBA, you can see averages of player minutes, field goal attempts, fantasy points, fantasy points per minute, projections and more. Not only can you see season averages, but also averages for the last 3 games and 5 games, to indicate how a player’s been performing recently.

Additionally you can see grades of players matchups, projected team points scored, spread, opponent pace, rest, and much more.

Having access to all of the information on this tab alone will likely save you hours of research, now that you no longer have to use multiple unorganized sources.

Projections

The projections tab allows you to see any projections associated with your subscription plan. RotoQL has made it possible to integrate projections from industry leaders directly into the optimizer, while also including their own custom projections.

Integrate projection sources include:

  • NFL
    • Pro Football Focus
    • Draft Sharks
    • 4for4
    • DFS Guru
  • NBA
    • The DFS Guru
  • MLB
    • Baseball Prospectus
    • Prediction Machine
    • Razz Ball
    • DFSR
    • The DFS Guru
    • Spreadsheet Sports

Locked, Excluded, and Saved Lineups

These tabs are pretty self-explanatory. You can quickly see which players you’ve chosen to lock or exclude. Additionally, you can see any lineups you’ve saved from the optimizer on the Saved Lineups tabs. You can export saved lineups to CSV or an Excel file to then import to your fantasy site.

What Separates RotoQL From Its Competition?

The biggest difference between RotoQL and its competitors is their aforementioned proven track record. Many people have used this product to improve their daily fantasy strategy.

Unlike many daily fantasy products that recycle the same picks and advice, RotoQL has created a platform that can be used to create your own winning strategies. The platform also provides you with more information than you could ever need to do your DFS research.

The RotoQL lineup optimizer is also, in my opinion, hands down the best available optimizer in the business. It lets you generate far more lineups than most of its competitors, while being the fastest optimizer on the market.

It is also one of the few lineup optimizers that easily allows you to integrate projections from the best sources. This optimizer saves you an immense amount time by not forcing you to download and import projections, the way most of the other optimizers available do.

Whether you’re using this product to generate one or 500 lineups, it will save you a great deal of time and give you a platform to create better lineups.

I hope you found this RotoQL review helpful.
